Find the perfect place to live

Find the perfect place to live with the help from our Accommodation Service.

Living away from home is a big part of the student experience. It might be your first time living independently and there’s lots for you to think about before you move into your accommodation.

With several different types of accommodation available, it’s important to select the right one. You’ll need to think about which type of accommodation you want as well as location, transport links and cost.

QA do not have accommodation but can assist in finding suitable accommodation, if it is available, through the links provided in this website.

It is important that you look into accommodation options as soon as you have received your unconditional offer as this can take time. Trying to find accommodation just before you come to the UK or even when you arrive, could possibly reduce any accommodation options available to you.

Take a look at all the options available to you below, and if you have any questions, contact the accommodation team.

Private Accommodation

Living in a privately rented property is the most popular choice for many students. These are usually managed by private or university approved landlords and offer more freedom to decide what you would like to prioritise when looking for a place to stay. Offering flexibility around the location and more control over whom you live with.

When searching for privately rented accommodation it is best to look for trusted or University approved providers for your peace of mind.

Accommodation providers like Student.com have various guarantees in place, including a No Visa, No Pay policy which is ideal for international students, allowing free cancellation if your visa application is denied. They also offer a No Place, No Pay policy, which offers a full refund if your start date is delayed, or place is rejected.

Finances & Cost of Living

There are several costs to consider when it comes to finding accommodation. Are utility bills included in the rent? What is your budget for transport, food and socialising? All these things need to be factored in, as well as any unexpected costs that may occur. If you live with other people, it’s important to organise shared household finances carefully to make sure you’re paying equal amounts for bills.

The Which? University student budget calculator is a useful tool to help estimate your monthly living costs. Once you know the approximate costs you can look at what your options are financially to cover the cost of living and studying.

Accessibility Requirements

If you need accommodation with specific accessibility requirements, contact the accommodation team. This might include finding a place to stay that has wheelchair access, adapted bathroom and kitchen facilities, ground floor living, and lifts.

If you are a pathway student looking to stay at the university’s halls of residence, contact them directly to discuss your accessibility requirements.

Accommodation Checklist

With so much to remember when choosing your accommodation and moving in, we’ve put together a short Accommodation Checklist to make sure you don’t forget anything important.
